About the income change calculator

Before you take a new job, work more hours or find your income has dropped, it helps to know the effect on your payment. This tool compares your payment at your income now and your income after the change.

It looks at the income test only. If your assets are over the limits, your payment could be lower or nil. For a full picture, use the calculator for your payment.

Common questions

How much of each extra dollar do I keep?

It depends on your payment. For the Age Pension and Disability Support Pension you keep 50 cents of each extra $1 above the free area. For JobSeeker, you keep 50 cents between $150 and $256 a fortnight, then 40 cents.

Do I need to tell Services Australia if my income changes?

Yes, usually within 14 days. Telling them promptly helps avoid overpayments.
